For those of you who have not heard this yet (which is probably a great number of you all):

Tom Prasada Rao, the songwriting teacher at Young Writers, proposed to his girlfriend Cary, who also has helped out at Young Writers, at the Kerrville Wine and Music Festival, and she said yes!

Here's a quote from their newsletter:

" A September wedding is in the works for 2006. Both Tom and Cary posted entries in our online journals that mysteriously disappeared when we recently switched web hosts. As soon as all the kinks are worked out, you should be able to click on our journals and find out more about the proposal and the incredible gift we received! "

Cool stuff, eh?

Jonathan

Movies:

American Beauty- makes me cry every time.
The Talented Mr. Ripley- in-fucking-credible, possibly surpassed Am.beau as my favorite movie, if you've ever read The Great Gatsby, it's how it would have been were Gatsby smarter, cuter, more talented and gay. =P Very literary, very deep and really well done. Best movie I've seen Matt Damon or Jude Law in.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind- that bit with the facelessness makes me scream.
Love me if you Dare- ooh not many have heard of it/seen it because it's french, but it really is a beautiful movie.

Books:

Drowning Ruth- fine fine, so it's an oprah book, I still love it. =P
Catch 22- funny as hell.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower- this one's funny, cute. not real deep, but I had a breif love affair with it in the 8th grade.
The Fountainhead- see above. although this one is much longer and more philosophical, my attitude towards it is much the same.
The Ender Series- If you haven't read it yet, you're missing out. Good stuff.
The Bluest Eye- There was a theme I meant to suggest that arose from this book, but I still don't know who to suggest it to/how to suggest it...

There are so many books I love, but it's hard to think of them on the spot. =P oh well, I'm still proud of and invested in the ones I mentioned. =] good theme.

Hi everybody! This is Emily Henry from Session 1 this past summer, and Session 2 the summer before that. I just found out I'm going to be in Charlottesville tomorrow, and I couldn't remember if anyone lived around there. Probably it's too short notice, and everyone's doing Thanksgiving stuff instead of being on the internet, heh heh... *long silence*

But anyway if I don't see anybody then rest assured I am there in spirit! :D :D Happy Thanksgiving, YWW kids!

hey, it's sarah from creative nonfiction and suite 120 (what do you see??!!)i am ecstatic that someone created this website. thank you so much. i was just wondering if anyone had the songwriters CD or/and the audio mag CD. it would be incredible if you could burn me a copy of 1 or both of them. i would be happy to pay for it. if i got my hands on one/both of the CDs i would be eternally grateful. if you can, send me an email at goatftdbaloongrl@aol.com. thank you so much, and i cannot wait until next year!!!

Does anyone come here anymore? It seems so barren...

Anyway, I'd like some feedback on a song I wrote. It's at my soundclick page, www.soundclick.com/jasondurso.

Click music, then listen to the one called A guitar song. The newer version is a little better, but the old one has its merits, like a cool little solo at the end. Gimme some feedback, and if possible, I'd appreciate it if someone could give me a hand with some lyrics. Tell what sort of image the song gives you.

YWW seems so far away now that school's started again. . . .

Hey, this is Shaina from The Doug's poetry thing (I hate it, I hate it, I hate it, it's stupid), for those of you who might know me. I miss all of you muchly and can't wait until next summer. Thinking about Session Three . . . and songwriting class . . . hmm. . . .

Speaking of songwriting, is anyone aware of people selling/donating copies of this year's CD? I'm desperate to get my hands on a copy!

I hope everyone's year's off to a good start. Happy school (ughh)!

PS: Has anyone written anything good since camp let out? Post it . . . I wanna see! I'll try to get some of my stuff in here when the football season settles down (I'm in the marching band . . . ha, I'd like to see myself play football . . .).
